Notes for the USA, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
USA
FBI Identity History Summary (FBI background check) with an apostille from the US State Department. Birth and marriage certificates need an apostille from the issuing state.
Germany
Request the police certificate for use abroad from the Federal Office of Justice and have it apostilled there. The birth certificate comes from the registry office, the apostille from the competent state authority.
Austria
Criminal record certificate and birth certificate, each with an apostille from the competent Austrian authority. We tell you in advance which office is responsible.
Switzerland
Private extract from the criminal record and birth certificate. The apostille is usually issued by the state chancellery of the canton where the document was issued.
As of October 2026. Authorities occasionally change procedures and validity periods. We discuss when to request each document in your consultation.
What else matters.
In person in Asunción
You need to be in Paraguay in person to apply, usually for about five working days. We plan the appointments so you lose as little time as possible.
Income: decisive only in the second step
For temporary residency your income currently plays only a minor role. That changes with the second step: for permanent residency, Resolution 407/2026 requires proof of income. More on permanent residency
Family
Every person files their own application with their own documents. We coordinate everyone’s appointments together, and every additional person gets 15 % off.
Frequently asked questions about requirements
How old can my police record be?
It should be as recent as possible. Because issuing and apostilling can take a few weeks, we plan the right time to request it with you.
Do I need to translate my documents beforehand?
No. We arrange certified Spanish translations in Paraguay. They are included in the fixed price.
What is an apostille?
An apostille is a certification by which an authority confirms that a public document is genuine for use abroad. Paraguay accepts apostilles from all states of the Hague Convention, including the USA, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Do I need a visa to enter Paraguay?
Many nationalities can enter Paraguay without a visa for a short stay, but the rules differ by passport. Check the current entry requirements for your nationality before you book; we are happy to help.
What if a document is missing?
That is exactly what the pre-check before your trip is for. If we spot anything, you know what to obtain before you book a flight.
We check your documents before you travel.
